Sam Sacksen of Somerset is competing in the Modern Pentathlon in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. This is the seventh correspondence from Sam for the Daily American

Fencing always follows after shooting, and is often times in, or close, to the same building as the shoot, as is the case here in Beijing. The format is very simple; everybody will face everyone in a one minute, one touch sudden death bout. In the case of a double touch (both fencers hit within 0.25 of each other) the referee will stop the action and then reposition them before restarting the bout.
